EA CEO Says FC and Madden Could Find Real Energy on Switch 2

Recently Electronic Arts (EA) CEO, Andrew Wilson shared that games like FC and Madden could find “real energy” on the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. In simple words, EA believes these games could become even more popular when they land on the new console.

Why EA Thinks FC and Madden Will Do Well on Switch 2?

During a recent EA earnings call, Andrew Wilson talked about how new consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2 create fresh opportunities for games to reach new players and communities. According to Wilson, anytime a new console comes out, it opens doors for gaming companies to grow their audience, and that’s exactly what EA is planning to do with FC and Madden.

He mentioned that both games have a strong global fan base and that the new Switch 2 could be a great way to connect with even more people. Since the original Switch has been a massive success, EA believes the new hardware will attract millions of new players, giving FC and Madden the boost they need to grow even further.

While EA hasn’t always been heavily invested in Nintendo platforms, recent successes have changed their approach. Wilson highlighted the performance of The Sims and MySims: Cozy Bundle, which launched on the current Nintendo Switch in November 2024. Surprisingly, half of the people who bought the game were completely new to EA’s titles. This showed EA that there’s a huge untapped audience on Nintendo’s platforms.

With this experience, EA now sees the Switch 2 as a big opportunity to bring popular games like FC and Madden to more players. Sine the next-generation console is rumored to be more powerful, EA might not need to create “Legacy Editions” like they did with previous FIFA games on the original Switch. This could mean players will get the full game experience, similar to what’s available on PlayStation and Xbox.

When will EA’s Titles Release on Switch 2?

Wilson didn’t confirm any official release dates for FC and Madden on the Switch 2 yet, but his comments clearly show that EA is excited about the possibilities. He said, “We think there’s real energy for our games on the next generation of Nintendo platforms.”

He further added, “So again, [there is] nothing in our models at this juncture. But our expectation is that any time a great new console comes into the marketplace that gives us access to new players and new communities, that we have the IP that will benefit from that.”

This statement hints that EA is already planning how to bring its biggest sports titles to the new console. But for now, fans of FC and Madden should definitely keep an eye out for more updates in the coming months!

Thank you for your feedback.
