Nintendo Switch 2 Release For March 2025 Backed By New Leaks

Rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2 gracing the market have been circulating online for quite some time now. One of the most popular leaks came from Weibo, which is like X for China, which claims that the Switch 2 would be announced in January 2025 and released in March of the same year. Now, another leak from the same source confirms these speculative dates.

However, while the community might be more or less convinced that the dates are correct, the details surrounding the launch and subsequent distribution of Switch 2 are foggy.

Weibo post backs up the previous post leaking Switch 2's announcement and release date

The first post on Weibo appeared on November 23. This post claimed that the Switch 2 had started being in mass production in September, and some of the parts of the upcoming console had already reached hundreds of thousands since that time.

Fast forward about two weeks and another post on Weibo from the same source backed up the claim made by the one up. This post said that Foxconn, the manufacturing giant that mass produced all Nintendo products since the GameCube, had already shipped a batch of Switch 2 to Nintendo, and they had begun to stock up. The conclusion was that the window between release and sale would not be too long.

The Chinese Weibo leaker also doubles down on the Switch 2 releasing in March

Rumors about a custom-made processor by Nvidia for the Switch 2 were also in circulation. The T239 is an advanced mobile processor with an octo-core ARM A78C CPU cluster, working in tandem with Nvidia's RTX 30-series Ampere architecture. Back then, this rumor was all but officially confirmed. On Weibo, the leak also claimed that the T239 chip had begun shipping in large quantities.

Well, the reception by the community of this rumor has been mixed. While fans are definitely excited to receive a successor of the beloved Switch, they are not all too happy about the schedule of events seemingly planned by Nintendo. Many are clamoring for an event, which, they say, is justified given the scope of the product. A common suggestion on Reddit is to do the reveal in early January 2025 followed by an event in late January.

On the other hand, some are convinced that the Switch 2 would not be released with a presentation. They reckon the March release date for Switch 2 seems skeptical, and given the importance of this launch to Nintendo, why would the company choose to not hold a proper presentation event when its predecessors have all had one.

People are eager to point out that if the March release for Switch 2 were true, then stores would already have been ordering the product worldwide, because the launch date would be only three months away. And that would mean warehouses everywhere would already have stockpiled large quantities of the console. But since no one has received even a single leak in this direction, the actual release date seems to be farther off.

However, some fans counter this argument by quoting the sales strategy Nintendo applied with the original Switch. They launched the console early in the year so that by the holidays, supply would've been stabilized and stores would be ready for the biggest sales of the year. Perhaps the company will tread the same path again.

But all opinions aside, we must remember these all they are: opinions. Until we receive word from the higher-ups in Nintendo, we would all do well to take leaks and rumors with a pinch of salt.

Thank you for your feedback.
