Nintendo Switch 2 Prototype And Specs Allegedly Leaked Online

Rumors about the new Nintendo Switch have been buzzing for a while, and now it seems like we’ve finally got a sneak peek at what’s coming next. Pictures and details of what looks like the Nintendo Switch 2 prototype popped up on Chinese social media and quickly spread to Reddit, getting fans super excited and sparking tons of guesses about the new console.

Nintendo Switch 2 Design and Features Leak

From what the leaked images show, the Nintendo Switch 2 keeps a design pretty close to the original Switch, but with some cool upgrades. There’s a bigger screen, new magnetic Joy-Cons, and a few USB-C ports, which are some of the most noticeable changes. The back stand design looks like it’s taken from the Switch OLED model, which is way better than the flimsy little kickstand the first Switch had.

The new Joy-Cons seem to use some kind of magnetic system instead of sliding on like the old ones. This change could help make the controllers feel more solid and fix some of the wobbly issues that the old Joy-Cons had.

Nintendo Switch 2 Specs Leak

The leaks are not just about looks; they’ve also revealed some cool stuff about what’s inside. Rumors say the Switch 2 might come with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and HDMI 2.1, which means it could possibly handle 4K resolution. That’s a big upgrade compared to the current Switch, which only does 1080p when docked.

Some details even came from a leaked shipping manifest showing that the Switch 2 might have a GMLX30-R-A1 chip, two cooling fans, and super-fast LPDDR5X memory. This matches up with earlier leaks that talked about a 12GB RAM setup and speedy UFS 3.1 storage, which means faster performance all around.

Adding to all this, someone from GeekShare, a company that makes gaming accessories, said on Weibo that the leaked images look like what they’ve heard the Switch 2 will be like from inside sources. It’s making everyone think these leaks could be the real deal, though Nintendo hasn’t said anything official yet.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Switch 2. There have been rumors since early 2023, and even Nintendo’s president gave a little hint that the next Switch might be announced sometime this year. But if these new leaks are true, the big reveal might happen sooner, especially if Nintendo wants to stop more leaks from coming out.

Now, even though the pictures and details are exciting, we have to remember that nothing is official yet. The design and features could still change before the final version is out. But if these leaks are real, the Switch 2 looks like it’ll be a great upgrade, keeping the things fans love about the original and making it even better.
