A few days ago, Jeff Gruff, a writer whose characters have made it into video game worlds like Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms, made a rather pointed remark. He slapped the stamp of being "less exciting" onto the title whose remaster is in the pipeline and is going to be announced at Sony's next State of Play event.

Now it seems that this title is possibly the Days Gone Remaster. This rumor comes from VGC's Jordan Miller who tweeted about this.

Days Gone Remaster Might Be Coming Soon

Recently, the director of Days Gone, John Garvin, made it known that he was not particularly pleased about Sony callously putting the protagonist Deacon St. John on a bench in the middle of the new Astro Bot game. Now, Miller has claimed that Garvin would lose his mind if he found out his game is the one getting a remaster.

Let us paint the context. Garvin has not been friends with Sony for a long time now. The multimillion-dollar company did not allow a sequel of Days Gone to happen, despite a great reception and more than decent sales. Now, the developer, Bend Studio, is active on another brand-new IP with online multiplayer. This IP also includes some open world systems witnessed in Days Gone.

Days Gone was released in April 2019 and was a great title. It was a lifesaver for Bend Studio because this developer came into the limelight after spending many years in the darkness. In terms of the mechanics and open-world gameplay, there are no great leaps. However, it is a fun game and its graphics are out of this world. The story and the cast are amazing too.

Moreover, Days Gone was also supposed to be adapted to a film with Sam Heughan from Outlander starring as Deacon St. John. However, that rumor has vanished from the internet for over two years now.

Coming back to the Days Gone Remaster, Days Gone's PC launch happened about two years after its debut. Right now, even PS5 owners can play this game at 60 frames per second. Given these facts, some say that this remaster is not really necessary. The same sentiment was felt for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, which ESRB leaked at the beginning of the week.

Well, one would speculate that Sony has started to mass-produce remasters of recently released games. But is this the best they can do?
