The Pokémon GO Community Day for August 2024 is happening on Saturday, August 31, 2024, and this time, you can catch Popplio, the Sea Lion Pokémon. Here are all the details you need to know about this special event.
Pokemon GO Popplio Community Day date and time
The Pokémon GO Community Day in August 2024 is gonna be super exciting with Popplio, the adorable Water-type Sea Lion Pokémon from the Alola region, as the star. Hence, if you love Popplio, make sure to save the date: Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It's gonna be all about catching as many Popplio as you can.
During this Community Day, you’ll have a better chance of finding a Shiny Popplio. You can see them either out in the wild or as rewards from Research tasks.
Pokemon GO Popplio Community Day event Bonuses
During the Pokémon GO August 2024 Community Day, you’ll get some really cool bonuses to help you out:
- 2x Candy for catching Pokémon, so you can get more Candy faster.
- 3x XP for catching Pokémon, which helps you level up quicker.
- 2x chance of getting Candy XL if you’re level 31 or higher, making it easier to get those rare Candy XLs.
- Incense and Lure Modules will last for three hours, giving you more chances to find Popplio.
- One extra Special Trade, so you can trade more Pokémon.
- 50% less Stardust needed for trades, saving you Stardust.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.

Pokemon GO Popplio Community Day Four-Star Raids
After the main event ends at 5:00 PM, the fun isn’t over. You can keep going by joining in on Four-Star Raid Battles featuring Brionne, which is Popplio’s middle evolution.
If you win these Raids, Popplio will start appearing around the Gym where the Raid happened for the next 30 minutes. Just remember, you need to be there in person because Remote Raid Passes won’t work for these battles.
Pokemon GO Popplio Community Day Featured Moves
- Hydro Cannon – Trainer Battles: 80 power, Gyms and raids: 90 power
- Sparkling Aria- Trainer Battles: 80 power, Gyms and raids: 85 power
Hydro Cannon
One of the coolest things about this Community Day is the chance to get a special move for Popplio's final evolution, Primarina. If you evolve your Popplio into Primarina during the event (or up to five hours after it’s over), Primarina will know the powerful Water-type Charged Attack, Hydro Cannon. This move is super strong in battles, so it’s a must-have for your Pokémon.
Another New Move: Sparkling Aria
Besides Hydro Cannon, Primarina can also learn a new Water-type Charged Attack called Sparkling Aria starting from this event. It’s perfect for both Trainer Battles and Raids, so don’t miss out on adding this awesome move to Primarina’s move set.

Pokemon GO Popplio Community Day Special Research and Timed Research
To make the most out of Community Day, here are some quick tips:
- Stock up on Poké Balls – You’ll need plenty to catch all the Popplios!
- Use Incense and Lure Modules РThey last three hours and will attract more Pok̩mon for you to catch.
- Check your storage РClear out space by removing unwanted Pok̩mon to make room for the new ones.
- Charge your phone – Nothing’s worse than running out of battery when you’re about to catch a Shiny Popplio!
