MultiVersus Characters - Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith Revealed in New Trailer |
MultiVersus, the free-to-play platform fighter developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros, is making a triumphant return. The game, which features characters from a variety of Warner Bros properties, including DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, Game of Thrones, Tom & Jerry, Gremlins, Rick & Morty, and The Iron Giant, is set to launch across PC and consoles on May 28th.
Moreover, recently the game got its new launch trailer which revealed two new MultiVersus characters, Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith, making fans more excited for the game's release.
New MultiVersus Characters
A new trailer for MultiVersus has been released, revealing two new playable fighters: Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Agent Smith from The Matrix. Both these characters bring the returning fighting game’s new character count to four. In the teaser, they are revealed as The Joker's sidekicks. The Clown Prince of Crime, played once more by Mark Hamill, claims he generally works alone but will "make an exception" in this particular case.
Though we haven't seen much more of Agent Smith or Jason, we can speculate about their gameplay based on their appearance. Jason appears to be extremely large, thus we could expect a move set akin to a juggernaut. And if Agent Smith's role in the films is any indication, we may anticipate something from martial arts to combating an army of clones from him. However, we'll have to watch and find out.
Moreover, the majority of the fighters from the game's previous release engage in combat with one another in the launch trailer, filled with dramatic scenes. As all of the game's protagonists approach the Joker, one of the new fighters, he can be seen seated on the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. The Joker says, “I usually work alone, but for you, I’ll make an exception.” Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith appear next to him as he finishes speaking at the end of the trailer.
Apart from them, at least four additional characters seem to make an appearance before the trailer concludes, which could mean more antagonists will be introduced for the first season of the MultiVersus that was re-released.
New MultiVersus Updates and Features
A crossover fighting game similar to Smash Bros., MultiVersus debuted as an open beta in July 2022. At its peak, the game had over 143,000 players on Steam on its first day and increased to 153,433 the next day.
The game was incredibly successful at first. However, the daily maximum number of players dropped sharply; it fell below 1,000 for the first time in February 2023. In spite of this, the open beta period provided the developers with a wealth of feedback, and many improvements will be made as a result.
