Codename SPRed - A new Mario game reportedly in development at Nintendo |
Nintendo, the company that makes video games and other electronics from Japan, is apparently making a new Mario game with the codename "SPRed." This news comes from Midori, a person who often shares information about new games before they're officially announced.
But what's interesting about "Codename SPRed"?
Throughout history, Nintendo has consistently used the term "Red" in the codenames for its major Mario games. For example, Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS was called "RedPepper," Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U was "RedCarpet," and Super Mario Odyssey was "RedStar." This pattern suggests that "SPRed" hints at another significant Mario game in the works.
However, the other part of the codename doesn’t seem to mean anything obvious.
Well, Nintendo usually releases a new game starring Mario when they launch a new gaming system, but it hasn't always happened that way.
People have been talking for a while about Nintendo making a new Mario or Donkey Kong game for when they launch the next version of the Switch. This seems likely because the team that made Super Mario Odyssey hasn't said or done anything new for quite a long time now.
Midori also claims on his Twitter post that Nintendo was working on something secret called "SilverStar."
However, we're not sure if they're still working on it, but some think it might be DLC for a game, or maybe a follow-up or a different version of a game.
The gaming community is really excited about the codename SPRed from Nintendo. People think it might be a new Mario game or a follow-up to one we already know. Fans can look forward to what promises to be another exciting addition to the beloved Mario franchise.
