Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe |
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe is one of the many future games from Ubisoft, and as such, there is a great deal of speculation surrounding its release. Although it was first teased in 2022 with a brief trailer showcasing a darker tone than previous AC titles, new reports have shed light on what we might expect from this mysterious adventure. And here we've put together as much information as we can to help you all visualize what the next AC game might look like, what the settings might be, and what could be possible the release date.
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe Release Date
Till now, the only visual depiction of Codename Hexe that is available is an unsettling unveiling trailer which shows an ominous landscape of pitch-black forests with the Assassin's Creed symbol hanging menacingly from a tree. This unsettling trailer implies that, in contrast to other entries, the game will explore a darker and more supernatural universe.
Unfortunately, as of now, there is no fixed date for release. However, Insider Gaming reports indicate that the project is still in its early stages and may see a release around 2026.
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe Platforms
While official platforms haven't been announced, it's reasonable to expect Codename Hexe to launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, based on the release patterns of previous Assassin's Creed titles.
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe Protagonist
Codename Hexe is reportedly going to have a female lead named Elsa. The leaked video claims to show Elsa using her supernatural abilities to control a cat as a distraction from German soldiers hunting her in the sixteenth century.
This leads us to believe that in addition to practicing witchcraft, the main character possesses a number of additional skills. The title and the game's purported setting both support this theory because the German term "Hexe" means "witch" in English.
Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe Settings and Gameplay
Though Ubisoft hasn't disclosed any information regarding the game, rumors and conjecture have been going around. A 2022 Bloomberg report states that Codename Hexe centers on witch trials and is set in the later periods of the Holy Roman Empire.
Furthermore, according to the most recent report, Codename Hexe would provide a more linear experience along with some open-world exploration features. Additionally, it's said to have a "Fear System" that lets players inflict different levels of horror on their enemies, modeled after the Jack the Ripper DLC from Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
The teaser for Assassin’s Creed Hexe provided subtle clues about the game's setting, featuring a gloomy forest backdrop with leaves falling from trees and the Assassin’s Creed insignia crafted from twigs, hinting at a German setting. A German dialect inscription surrounding the insignia adds to this atmosphere, which when translated says, "We work in the dark to serve the light."
In terms of gameplay, in an effort to "bring more diversity to the places we choose to visit and to how we choose to represent those periods," Cote said in an interview with IGN that Hexe "will not be an RPG". It means that the gameplay of the game will not be comparable to that of Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla. However, the nature and duration of Hexe are still unknown.
Well, a more survival horror adventure game could be possible if it also doesn't adhere to the classic stealth approaches that the Mirage is bringing back. And with the RPG components removed, there are a number of possible paths that the game could go.
In summary, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe promises a departure from traditional AC gameplay with a darker, more supernatural tone, led by a mysterious protagonist in a haunting historical setting.
