Scheduled for release on May 9, 2024, Honkai: Star Rail version 2.2 brings two new characters, Robin and Topaz, in Phase 1, and features Boothill and Fu Xuan in Phase 2, along with a few familiar faces. Moreover, now HoYoverse has also begun teasing the next set of characters, with leaks suggesting that Firefly will join Boothill and Robin in the upcoming HSR 2.3 update and banner.
According to reports, Firefly is anticipated to be a five-star Fire element character following the Path of the Destruction. So here we'll go over Honkai Star Rail Firefly's abilities, character design, and other details.
Who is Firefly in Honkai Star Rail?
With the release of the Honkai Star Rail 2.3 drip marketing campaign, HoYoverse has made Firefly the first 5-star character known.
Firefly was once a part of the well-liked Stellaron Hunter group in the game, which Ellio leads. Entropy Loss Syndrome, the result of a mutation in the genome that turned Firefly into a weapon, is the official explanation for her condition. This painful illness causes the physical body to gradually dissociate over time, eventually making it disappear.

- Japanese: Tomori Kusunoki is the Japanese voice actor for Firefly. Her prior roles include Misha Necron in The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Makima in Chainsaw Man, Llenn in Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online, and Kirara in Kirara Fantasia.
HSR Firefly and Her Model
Firefly is one of the upcoming characters in Honkai Star Rail that has leaked, along with a bunch of other playable characters. According to the official reveal, Firefly is a native and a member of the Iris Family. In addition, Firefly states that she performs stage work and works as a guide close to Glaux Avenue. And based on leaks, Firefly is anticipated to be a five-star Fire element character on the Path of the Destruction. She will therefore deal huge Fire DMG and AoE to single-enemy targets.
When it comes to character design, Firefly appeared in the official artwork and won over admirers with her elegant appearance. She can be seen wearing long sleeves and her white hair is styled with a dark blue hairband. Moreover, she, Sam, and Blade are members of a group called Stellaron Hunters.
HSR Firefly Abilities
Now, some information on Firefly's skill set and her technique has been made public thanks to a new Honkai: Star Rail leak via a reliable source HomeDGCat. Firefly kit includes:
Basic ATK
Deals Fire DMG to a single target.
Enhanced Basic ATK: Smoldering Wasteland
- Heals a percentage of own Max HP, and deals Fire DMG to a single target.
Skill
- Consumes a percentage of own Max HP, and deals Fire DMG to a single target. If HP is insufficient, will drain to 1 HP.+
- After the attack, if the target is Weakness Broken, regenerate some Energy.
Enhanced Skill: Devouring Conflagration
- Heals a percentage of own Max HP, and deals Fire DMG to a single target and adjacent targets.
- After the attack, if at least 1 attacked target is Weakness Broken, advances own action and deals extra Fire DMG to all attacked targets.
- All DMG dealt by this skill are considered as Ultimate DMG, instead of Skill DMG.
Ultimate: Burning Starlight
- Dispels all debuffs on self, and enters the Primary Combustion state, and advances own action by 100%.
- Summons a Cooldown Kernel on the action bar. When the Cooldown Kernel takes action, exits the Primary Combustion state.
Talent: Primary Combustion
- When under the Primary Combustion state, increases SPD by a fixed value, and increases DMG dealt by a percentage of (convertible) Break Effect.
- Also, Basic ATK and Skill will be switched to their Enhanced version
Talent: Scorched Barrier
- Reduces DMG taken by a percentage of lost HP. When under the Primary Combustion state, this DMG reduction is further increased by a fixed amount.
Talent: Luminous Fireflies
- When not under the Primary Combustion state, every time Current HP changes, will regenerate Energy based on the ratio of the HP change to Max HP.
Technique
- Immediately transforms into the Molten Knight, lasting for some time.
- When transformed, cannot be spotted by enemies and block all incoming attacks; move speed is greatly increased, and ignores all enemies while moving.
- When transformed, pressing the Normal ATK or Technique buttons will immediately attack all enemies in a large area. The AoE is the same as Kafka and Argenti.
Overworld Attack
- Melee attack with small range, similar to Sparkle's attack AoE.
Pictures
- Will be able to switch between 2 pictures in battle. She is currently the only character that can switch pictures.
It appears from these released details that Firefly deals Area of Effect (AoE) damage with her melee strike, and it's a given that her technique makes her invisible for a while.
Honkai Star Rail Firefly Traces
The following are HSR Firefly traces and their effects:
- Trace 2 - Increases resistance to Crowd Control debuffs.
- Trace 3 - When under the Primary Combustion state, gains Fire DMG Boost.
Honkai Star Rail Firefly Eidolons
- Eidolon 1 - When casting Enhanced Skill: Devouring Conflagration, before the DMG is dealt, inserts a Fire Weakness to the central single target, lasting for some turns. This effect ignores RES.
- Eidolon 2 - When receiving a buff, the duration of this buff is increased by 1 turn.
- Eidolon 3 - Yet to be revealed.
- Eidolon 4 - When under the Primary Combustion state, upon defeating an enemy, the action of Cooldown Kernel will be delayed. This effect can be triggered at most a certain number of times during each Primary Combustion.
- Eidolon 5 - Yet to be revealed.
- Eidolon 6 - When under the Primary Combustion state, when own turn ends, gains 1 stack of Heavenly Fire, increasing DMG dealt by Ultimates, max some stacks. When Primary Combustion ends, removes all stacks of Heavenly Fire.
Honkai Star Rail Firefly's Release Date
Although the official release date of Firefly is yet uncertain, it is most likely to happen during the HSR 2.1 to 2.6 update. But if the report is true, Firefly will show up in Penacony version 2.2, which isn't planned to be released until May 2024.
However, as soon as Firefly from Hoyoverse has an official release date, we will update this section of the guide.
Overall, Firefly appears to be a strong character and her story appears to be emotionally charged and centers on a few traumatic events from her past. But do note that the information could change prior to the anticipated formal release of the version 2.2 upgrade.
