New leaks claim that Microsoft may be thinking about bringing the Gears of War series to the PlayStation, which would continue the seemingly never-ending wave of Xbox games rumored to be coming to the platform.
Gears of War is Reportedly Coming to PlayStation - Rumors |
A recent leak has hinted that the Gears of War franchise, one of Xbox's most iconic exclusive series, may find its way to PlayStation consoles in the future. Insider Jeff Grubb while shedding light on recent rumors that Microsoft is developing a new plan to release more Xbox-exclusive games on other console platforms, has suggested that discussions about bringing Gears of War to PlayStation are in progress, although no concrete plans have been confirmed at this moment.
Jeff Grubb shared insights on the matter, stating, "The other one that I’ve heard that’s definitely under consideration—it doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen, but it’s in talks—is Gears of War." He emphasized that Gears of War is currently being contemplated for expansion to other consoles.
He further noted that while Microsoft initially planned to publicly unveil this strategic shift at the end of February, given the constant release of leaks and rumors, we might get an earlier official announcement. He said, "The other thing I can corroborate is a rumour that there will be something at the end of February when they’re going to explain this change – that is something that they definitely were talking about."
This development aligns with earlier reports speculating on games like Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle making the transition to PlayStation. However, Gears of War, with its long-standing prominence as an Xbox-exclusive franchise, introduces an interesting twist to the evolving landscape of gaming platforms.
Gears of War, having been a beloved series, witnessed the release of two mainline entries—Gears of War 4 in 2016 and Gears 5 in 2019—following Microsoft's acquisition of the intellectual property. Developed by The Coalition, these titles, along with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and the turn-based tactics spin-off Gears Tactics, have been exclusive to Xbox platforms. Hence, PlayStation fans would undoubtedly be pleased to have the series available on their preferred platform.
As previously said, Gear of Wars becomes part of an expanding roster of Xbox-exclusive properties that are rumored to be moving to other platforms. All of this began with Hi-Fi Rush rumors, which have subsequently become increasingly plausible in light of growing evidence. Since then, a number of sources have informed us that ports are being considered for Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and others.
Even though the multitude of rumors hints at a potential shift in the gaming landscape, it's important to note that these discussions are merely rumors for now.
