Original Metal Gear Solid Remake is still in development, suggests new rumors |
New rumors suggest that the original Metal Gear Solid remake is still in the works at Konami. Following the launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta, leaks speculate that this remake will become a central focus for Konami. While the grapevine hints at a current-gen exclusive experience, an official release date remains elusive.
According to the Spanish website Areajugones, Konami has been working on the original Metal Gear Solid remake for years, and after Metal Gear Solid Delta is released, the remake will be the studio's primary priority.
The report claimed, "Multiple sources tell us that Konami is still working on a remake of the first installment, although right now Metal Gear Solid Delta is a priority in the studio."
According to the leak, the Metal Gear Solid remake would only be accessible on the PS5, not the PS4, suggesting that this potential upcoming title is restricted to the current generation of consoles. Although a Windows or Xbox release was not mentioned, it seems likely that the Metal Gear Solid remake will be distributed like that of Metal Gear Solid Delta, which will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Windows.
This would be a whole new Metal Gear Solid, with a revised soundtrack and updated graphics. Additionally, the leak suggests that Konami views this remake as one of its most ambitious upcoming projects, comparable to the efforts demonstrated in Metal Gear Solid Delta.
There was no mention of a possible release date, and given that Metal Gear Solid Delta is currently without one, it seems unlikely that the Metal Gear Solid remake will be out very soon. Though it doesn't sound unlikely at all, it is speculated that if Metal Gear Solid Delta is released in 2024, the original game's remake might be the next major project in development.
As for the credibility of the leak, Areajugones is renowned for correctly revealing the existence of the newly revealed DLC for God of War Ragnarok, which gives the leak legitimacy and suggests that their sources may be trustworthy.
Also, the leaked information echoes previous statements by Konami, following the Metal Gear Solid Delta reveal, expressing openness toward further remakes of the Metal Gear Solid series. This might hint at more exciting ventures in the pipeline for fans of the legendary franchise.
Well, no matter the level of credibility, a leak is still a leak and hence should be taken with a grain of salt.
