A Plague Tale: Innocence
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a horrific narrative of a small girl named Amicia and her younger brother Hugo, who suffer through some of the saddest moments in human history. Amid relentless rat swarming and the pursuit of Inquisition soldiers, Amicia and Hugo will get to know and trust one another. They will try to find meaning in this harsh, cruel world as they attempt to survive despite insurmountable odds.
If you do not like rigidity and limited freedom, then this one is not for you. The biggest attraction is its excellent narrative, which is equal parts innocent (hence the title) and thriller-scary. The central theme of the narrative is the sister's bond with her brother. At times, the gameplay seems to be geared around forcing you to do anything at least ten times before you succeed, which can get a little annoying. However, for the most part, it feels like you're acting out a movie.
Overall, A Plague Tale: Innocence is a superbly made game that skillfully combines gameplay and narrative. You find yourself genuinely invested in the story and kept on the edge of your seat. It's an absolute must-play if you enjoy video games with strong storylines.

The Epic Games Store typically announces forthcoming mystery games every Wednesday, following a weekly timetable for game releases. However, there is a slight change this time. Starting December 20, 2023, the frequency will ramp up to daily free game releases until January 4, 2024.
