Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree DLC Might Launch in February 2024 |
Since its initial announcement, there has been no sight of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, and both Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have remained tight-lipped about any additional content details. On December 15th, however, a revelation occurred in a Philippine chain store, DataBlitz, where a new controller, ESWAP, was unveiled to coincide with the release of Shadow of the Erdtree in February 2024, also known as the Elden Ring Anniversary.
Adding to the anticipation, Purearts recently announced on Twitter that their first Elden Ring Collectable is set to launch in February, aligning with the leak about the Thrustmaster controller a month ago. This has sparked speculation that the Shadow of Erdtree DLC might indeed launch in February 2024 alongside various collaborations.

I’m not saying it’s 100% Shadow of the Erdtree but… There’s a pretty good chance it is. pic.twitter.com/1j6HCVfGQo
The specific file size has not been determined, and as expected, the developers have not issued any official statements yet. However, this discovery adds weight to existing speculations that the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, announced last year, might be preparing for release in the near future.
It would be surprising if the developers delayed the promotion of such a highly anticipated DLC for an extended period. However, there is a possibility that they are planning a surprise release without much prior announcement.

Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree DLC Might Launch in February 2024
In the upcoming month, Purearts plans to introduce a new series of Elden Ring-themed collectibles, while Thrustmaster is expected to release a limited edition controller dedicated to Elden Ring. The prevailing notion is that FromSoftware might unveil the additional content (Shadow of the Erdtree DLC) in celebration of Elden Ring's second anniversary, ideally by the end of February.

Further, supporting the likelihood of a DLC release, Elden Ring recently underwent updates in its Steam backend, causing excitement and speculation in gaming communities. Notably, several branches within Elden Ring's Steamdb received recent upgrades, with the latest occurring on December 5th following the November 30th update. The names of these branches, such as qa_debug, qa_release, dev_debug, and dev_release, could bear significance in the game's development cycle.
Now, the question comes about why Shadow of the Erdtree wasn't showcased at The Game Awards 2023 if it's slated for a February release. It's plausible that the DLC might have faced delays, and hence, instead of being revealed at the awards, it could receive a release date trailer or announcement alongside the new items in February 2024.
While not ruling out this possibility entirely, it's crucial to exercise caution amidst the latest leaks surrounding Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Waiting for official announcements from From Software is the suggested course of action, as the current information remains speculative, and there is no official confirmation.
Elden Ring was one of the most significant games of 2022. The game eventually surpassed The Last of Us Part 2 as the most GOTY award-winning title after being crowned the Game of the Year in 2022. Almost two years have passed since the release of Elden Ring and nearly a year has passed since the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC teaser was released.
But if there is any truth to this ongoing rumor, we'll hear about it in the upcoming weeks.
