Red Dead Redemption 2 sees record-breaking numbers of players on Steam |
Just as this week draws to a close, Red Dead Redemption 2 jumped to an all-time high player count on Steam. Thanks to a substantial discount during the Black Friday sale on this popular digital game distribution platform, players are making huge savings. Moreover, Rockstar Games' vast open-world epic witnessed over 77,000 concurrent users at its peak, surpassing its previous player record.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Sets New Record - sees record-breaking numbers of players on Steam
Years after its initial PC release and more than a year after Red Dead Online's slowdown, over 77,000 Steam players chose to explore its landscape of ambition, harshness, and American legend—quite a feat for a narrative-driven game.
Thanks to publisher Rockstar's 67% price reduction during Black Friday deals on the title from $44.99 to $14.99 this past week, consumers increased by over 90% over usual amounts. At a discounted price of $22.49, the Ultimate Edition offers even more content at an amazing value.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is clearly still being discovered by new players, which is one of the reasons it is one of the greatest games ever made. However, the majority of people who have previously experienced the open-world Western are content to play it again on a "different" platform.

The PC edition is widely acknowledged as the definitive port of Red Dead Redemption 2. This is primarily due to the thriving modding community and the platform's support for more powerful hardware. Even today, Red Dead Redemption 2 stands as one of the most visually stunning games on PC, outshining many recently released titles. It's the blend of storytelling brilliance and stunning graphics that continues to draw considerable attention to Red Dead Redemption 2, despite its perceived age and lack of active support from Rockstar Games.
Red Dead Redemption 2 got overwhelmingly positive reviews at the time of its release. But even if we take away the online parts of both games, it hasn't exactly lasted as long as GTA 5 has, no matter how wonderful it was.
Red Dead Redemption and the Grand Theft Auto series are in rarefied air as the latter nears 100 million copies sold in its lifetime. Even while Rockstar is deeply involved in the production of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game, it is unlikely that it is not already considering a third entry in the RDR series.

However, it's important to note that these figures exclude data from Rockstar's launcher and the Epic Games Store version of the game. Hence, they don't represent the total number of PC players, but they do reflect the highest player count the game has seen in a while.
