iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max Performance
Apple introduced the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max featuring the powerful A17 Pro processor. These models, available in similar sizes as the standard ones, come with a new Action Button with haptic feedback, enabling functions like recording and shortcuts.
The iPhone 15 Pro series incorporates a new chipset that supports ray tracing for enhanced gaming. Notably, this series embraces USB 3 support for faster file transfers. This shift from the Lightning connector to USB-C not only streamlines wired connections across Apple's products but also introduces faster USB 3 speeds, especially beneficial for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.
This facilitates swift data transfer between a Mac and an iPhone, making the process of offloading large files like ProRAW photos or ProRes videos much quicker. However, it's worth mentioning that the iPhone 15 Pro doesn't include a USB 3 capable cable in the box, so users will need to acquire one separately for the enhanced speeds. Additionally, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, powered by the A17 Pro chip, have the necessary USB controller to support USB 3 speeds, while other iPhone 15 models remain at the slower USB 2 speeds.
The A17 Pro, constructed on a 3nm process, boasts a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU, delivering a 20% increase in speed, as claimed by Apple. This chip houses a staggering 19 billion transistors and also incorporates an AV1 decoder.
