LoL Briar's Story
Briar, created through hemomancy by the Black Rose, is a living weapon driven by blood consumption. However, her uncontrollable bloodlust and resulting frenzied state led to a failure to adhere to orders and excessive casualties. Kept in a pillory that restrained her, Briar found mental clarity within its confines.
The pillory, initially meant to be permanent, became a blessing as it tempered her violent tendencies, allowing her to think and learn. She absorbed knowledge from her environment, conversing with guards and other captives, and observing insects in her cell. The pillory enabled her to embrace reflection and self-discovery, fostering a desire to redefine her identity beyond her violent past. Rejecting being a mindless killer, Briar yearned for autonomy and sought to create her own path. This transformation marks her journey from a bloodthirsty weapon to an individual eager to explore and experience the world.
LoL Briar's Abilities
The following has been revealed officially about LoL Briar's abilities and the champion will be released in LoL Patch 13.18.
- LoL Briar's Passive - Crimson Curse
Briar gains increased Healing based on her missing health and her attacks and abilities apply a bleed for the short duration that stacks. The bleed deals physical damage based on the number of stacks and Heals Briar for a percentage of the pre-mitigation damage.
Briar has no base health regeneration and her abilities cost health to cast.
- LoL Briar's Q - Head Rush
Briar leaps to a target, Stunning them for a short duration, dealing physical damage, and reducing their armor.
Briar will stop prioritizing champions if she casts this Ability on a minion or monster during Blood Frenzy.
- LoL Briar's W - Blood Frenzy/Snack Attack
Briar leaps to a location and enters a Blood Frenzy, self-taunting to the nearest enemy (prioritizing champions) for a period of time. While in Blood Frenzy she gains Attack Speed and Move Speed and her attacks now deal physical damage around the main target.
Briar can Recast this ability to empower her next attack. It deals missing health physical damage and heals Briar for a large percentage of the damage dealt.
- LoL Briar's E - Chilling Scream
Begin Charging: Briar removes Blood Frenzy and gathers energy, gaining damage reduction and restoring health
Release: Briar unleashes a scream that deals damage based on time charged and Slows for a short duration. When fully charged the scream knocks back, dealing additional damage to enemies that hit a wall and Stunning them.
- LoL Briar's R - Certain Death
Briar kicks a hemolith and flies to the location of the first champion hit, marking them as her prey. On landing, she deals a large amount of physical damage to everything nearby and causes nearby enemies to Flee. She then enters an empowered Blood Frenzy and will pursue her prey until one of them dies. During this time she gains Armor, Magic Resist, and additional Move Speed.

LoL Briar's Gameplay
Briar is portrayed as an eager and friendly character in her champion reveal. Her motivation revolves around companionship and consuming blood. These factors keep her going and prevent her from succumbing to her frenzy. She now breaks free from the device only when necessary, making her opponents' situation challenging.
According to lead game designer August Browning, playing Briar doesn't demand extreme technical skill, but rather heightened awareness and strategic decision-making. Managing her frenzy state is crucial to success, as her abilities like "W" and her ultimate can be perilous if not used carefully. League of Legends Briar Release Date
According to Riot's recent revelations, Briar's release date might be earlier than anticipated. In a Reddit post, Riot Meddler, Head of the League Studio, hinted at Briar's debut before the League of Legends World Championship. This suggests a likely release in September.
While the exact LoL Briar release date remains undisclosed, she's projected to arrive with either Patch 13.18 or 13.19, slated for September 13th or September 27th, respectively. Briar will be the third champion launched this year, joining the ranks of Milio and Naafiri in League of Legends' ever-evolving lineup of playable characters.
