In Destiny 2 Season 22, brace yourself for the return of an old raid, but with some tweaks to make it more accessible for newbies and a revitalizing experience for the veterans. Not just that, some cool adjustments are heading to the Seasonal Artifact, and PvP multiplayer is getting a new map. Even Gambit mode is getting a revived map after staying unchanged for a while.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Release Date and Start Time
Destiny 2 Season 22 should be ready to roll during the weekly reset time. That means around August 22, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 5 PM UTC / 6 PM BST / 7 PM CEST.
Be ready, though, the servers will be down for maintenance before you can download the update. Since everyone's itching to dive in, you might encounter a queue when trying to log in after the maintenance.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Story
While Bungie usually keeps the seasonal story hidden until the last minute, recent leaks suggest that Destiny 2 Season 22 might finally wrap up a long-standing conflict. Also, it seems like a well-loved character might be in for a big change.
Narratively, Destiny 2 Season 22 is expected to lay down the foundation for The Final Shape expansion. According to senior narrative designer Robert Brookes, this time around, it's all about building up to The Final Shape and it's going to take a different shape than what we're used to.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Raid
The upcoming reprised raid will kick off on Friday, September 1, 2023, with the daily reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. For those aiming for the World First title, Contest Mode will be on for the first 48 hours, just like in Root of Nightmares earlier this year.
As revealed officially, Destiny 2 Season 22 will bring Crota's End, the Hive-centric raid from the game's first expansion The Dark Below. Plus, some old raids might return, like Leviathan.
Crota's End will be Destiny 2 Season 22's Raid |
Crota's End, renowned for its iconic difficulties and memorable moments, is ready for a resurrection that pays tribute to its past while including fresh elements. This time, Crota's resurrection as a Lucent Hive adds an intriguing twist to the raid. This mysterious change sparks a compelling narrative in which Crota sets out to restore his heritage and exact revenge on those who once stood in his way.

Destiny 2 Season 22 Weapon Updates
Recent changes adjusted pulse rifles, bows, submachine guns, and shotguns in Season 21. Now more updates are coming for glaives, hand cannons, swords, and bows in Season 22. Hand cannons are getting faster reloads and more damage when attacking major or minor foes in PvE. Sword guarding gets a "substantial rework." Various perks, including Bipod, Envious Assassin, and Under-Over, are getting buffed in different ways.
Exotics like Le Monarque and Touch of Malice are also in for some balancing changes in Destiny 2 Season 22, aiming to enhance game balance across Hunter, Titan, and Warlock classes.
Among the Hunter Exotic changes, the Knucklehead Radar incorporates Foetracer's benefits and offers additional bonuses. The Foetracer Exotic helmet now gains damage bonuses with weapons matching the subclass's damage type and spawns subclass-related collectible objects upon defeating a previously damaged enemy. Lucky Raspberry gains energy from lightning strikes and ionic trace pickups and now possesses the ability to stun Overload Champions. Renewal Grasps revert the cooldown nerf for Duskfield grenades when equipped.
For Titan Exotics, Icefall Mantle provides escalating Stasis weapon damage bonuses from rapid Stasis kills, while Doom Fang Pauldrons offer a similar effect for Void weapon damage. Path of the Burning Steps grants Solar weapon damage bonuses upon Solar Grenade kills, and Eternal Warrior extends the duration of the Arc weapon damage bonus to 30 seconds after Fist of Havoc Super ends.
Warlock Exotic changes include Astrocyte Verse, which makes enemies volatile when near during a Blink and preserves Dark Blink ability Super energy consumption during Nova Warp. Geomag Stabilizers offer more Super energy through ionic trace pickups, and Wings of Sacred Dawn now automatically reloads Solar weapons upon kills while aiming down sights. Winter’s Guile adds a new perk to shatter combatants encased by the Stasis warlock's Penumbral Blast melee.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Crucible Updates and New Strand Aspects
PvP in Destiny 2 is about to get more exciting. Season 22 brings a Vex-themed map, a new mode allowing you to use seasonal weapons against other players, and a modifier emphasizing gunplay.

Destiny 2 Season 22 Power Cap
The player power cap, the combined power level from your gear, won't be raised in Season 22. Bungie seems to be stepping away from the emphasis on chasing power levels lately.
Destiny 2 Season 22 Exotic Quest Rotator
Season 22 introduces the Exotic Quest Rotator, letting you relive some of Destiny's iconic Exotic missions from the past. It’s a chance to revisit those legendary quests and their stories.
