New Death Stranding 2 announcement could be made at Game Awards 2022, suggests a new cryptic tweet from Kojima.
Death Stranding 2 announcement could be coming soon |
Death Stranding, released in 2019, was the first game created by renowned developer Hideo Kojima independently from Konami and the Metal Gear series. After more than five million copies were sold, it now seems likely that a complete sequel will be available soon.
Stars like Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Léa Seydoux, to mention a few, graced the cast of the first open-world courier-style game. However, the first tease of Death Stranding 2 was supplied by Reedus, who is most known for his work on The Walking Dead television series.
Expectations for the current slate of titles from Kojima Productions have started to rise recently. Online followers have been captivated by news reports that specifically mention Death Stranding 2.
Currently, due to Kojima's customarily cryptic tweet, there is speculation that formal information on Death Stranding 2 will be revealed during this year's The Game Awards.

Death Stranding 2 announcement could be coming soon
Hideo Kojima is currently working on at least two video game projects, as is already known by fans. His Xbox-only game, Overdose, is presumably the first of these and is a survival horror game. The second is Death Stranding's sequel.
It doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that the first trailer for the Kojima Productions sequel is imminent given that actor Norman Reedus acknowledged the existence of the game's sequel and that the term was mentioned in a recent Sony document that was leaked.
And now according to a recent tweet from Hideo Kojima on his personal Twitter account, Death Stranding 2 will be unveiled at the gala event for The Game Awards in 2022.
It appears more than probable that any announcement would be made during The Game Awards 2022 on December 8, which is just one week away. Thanks to a response to Kojima's post from the official "The Game Awards" Twitter account, this rumor has all but been confirmed.

The official account just shared a red emergency light emoji in response, implying that significant news is indeed forthcoming. Additionally, the host and event organizer Geoff Keighley replied to the tweet with the GIF "Hmm, interesting," which essentially suggests that he already knows what it is and is only trying to generate curiosity.

Kojima's hint doesn't appear to directly mention Death Stranding 2 or its location at first look, but fans speculate that the logos are for new businesses that will show up in the sequel.
Reasons Why Death Stranding 2 Will Probably Be Announced at The Game Awards
It is evident from a long series of exchanges that Geoff Keighley and Hideo Kojima are true pals. Since Kojima's split from Konami in 2015, The Game Awards' producer has continuously given him a stage on which to make announcements. Kojima has appeared at every one of the last eight awards shows that Keighley has hosted, with the exception of one Game Awards ceremony.
Kojima now has a good possibility of attending this year's Game Awards, and additional announcements about Death Stranding 2 might be revealed there.
