League of Legends patch 12.23 will be released soon, and the devs have already revealed some info about the forthcoming changes.
League of Legends 12.23 patch notes |
League of Legends is a multiplayer online game, but it isn't an MMO in the sense that it focuses on gameplay rather than an open world to explore. The title is a MOBA that can be challenging to get into for newbies, especially since it has been on the market for a long time, but it does not require a strong PC to play.
We recently received a significant LoL patch 12.22 update which included various changes in the main game, including major buffs and nerfs for several champions and interesting gameplay adjustments.
Now while Riot continues to tinker with all of the major changes in LoL patch 12.23, the live game is indeed moving forward. After dealing with more than 10 champions in the previous update, the developer is now focusing on adjusting a few champions' abilities.
Riot is concentrating on champions like Zeri, Sion, Yummi, and others in patch 12.23. Moreover, the main focus of the LoL patch 12.23 is to bring the major jungle and tank changes to balance the meta.
So let's get to know what has been detailed so far with regards to the League of Legends 12.23 patch, including changes, champions buffs and nerfs, new releases, and more.

League of Legends 12.23 patch notes
League of Legends Designers on the Summoner's Rift team, shared a preview of the upcoming LoL patch 12.23 changes on November 29th.
A few champions will be nerfed as usual, while League of Legends Patch 12.23 will also enhance the abilities of a few champions.
RiotPhroxzon stated regarding the LoL 12.23 patch, "Systems seem ~right, so we're doing champ changes. Tanks are weak, barring individual outlier synergy with items, so we're buffing them (over items) to avoid poaching."

LoL Patch 12.23 Champion nerfs:
Now coming to LoL Patch 12.23 Champion nerfs. Similar to the buffs, developers also revealed the LoL Patch 12.23 champion nerfs, and the list of champions isn't that long. While junglers like Mordekaiser, Lillia, and Trundle are suffering some hits, Yuumi is once again on the nerfs list.
Riot is largely ignoring it in an effort to strengthen specific tank champions. The primary objectives, to begin with, are Amumu, Cho'Gath, Malphite, Maokai, Sion, Tahm Kench, and Zac, although devs are keeping an eye on everything.
The champions receiving LoL Patch 12.23 nerfs are:
- Yuumi
- Passive Cooldown: 14-6 seconds ⇒ 18-6 seconds
- R Root duration: 1.75 seconds ⇒ 1.25 seconds
- Syndra
- W Bonus damage: 15% (+1.5% per 100 AP) ⇒ 12% (+2% per 100 AP)
- E: Scatter the Weak

- Cooldown: 15 seconds ⇒ 17 seconds
- Mordekaiser
- Passive: Darkness Rise
- Procs on all monster hits ⇒ Procs on large monster hits

- Shyvana
- E On-hit damage: 3.5% target max health ⇒ 3% target max health
- Trundle
- Base stats Attack speed: 0.67 ⇒ 0.6
- R Damage based on target max health: 20/27.5/35% ⇒ 20/25/30%
- Lillia
- Q Damage at edge: 70/100/130/160/190 ⇒ 80/100/120/140/160
It's never been easy to play Yuumi because she's either too powerful or unplayable. Since receiving a mini-rework in patch 12.19, Syndra has become one of League of Legends' top mid-laners. For a high-skill champion like Syndra, her win rate in the solo queue is now 52%, while her ban rate is 12%.
Trundle's play rate and win rate have increased dramatically since the Preseason tank craze began. Shyvana's full tank build and Demonic Embrace enable her to deal a tonne of damage while being virtually unkillable.

LoL Patch 12.23 System Buffs and Nerfs
Well, two of the system's elements will receive changes to them. These LoL Patch 12.23 system buffs and nerfs include:
- System Buffs: Sunfire Cape
- Combine cost: 1000 gold ⇒ 900 gold
- Total cost: 2800 gold ⇒ 2700 gold
- Health: 400 ⇒ 500
The only item that will get some improvements is the Sunfire Cape. After being degraded, it appears that the item is still having trouble establishing itself as a Legendary item. Riot is working to find a balance between the item's multiple applications.
- System Buffs: Ravenous Hydra
- Omnivamp from full stacks removed
- Splash damage: 60% (melee) / 30% (ranged) ⇒ 50% / 25%
The sole Ravenous Hydra in this patch gets it onto another list of nerfs. Both the win rate and play rate have been soaring in the game as a result of it. Riot will reduce it to make it significantly less powerful.
- Heartsteel Nerfs for ARAM
- Heartsteel Permanent Health Gain (ARAM Only): 10% damage dealt ⇒ 5% damage dealt.
Heartsteel is a bit of a problem because ARAM is a game mode where everyone is required to fight each other head-on. Riot will therefore scale it back.
LoL Patch 12.23 System Adjustments
Regarding the system changes, developers have likewise listed a few System Adjustments that are coming in LoL patch 12.23 in the PBE servers and the list includes Jungle Rules, Monsters, and Mosstomper.
- Jungle Rules
- 20 true damage ⇒ 16 true damage for pet
- After the first evolution, consume 2 bonus treats on the kill of large monsters and get said benefits
- The native 20% Damage Amp no longer works on epic monsters
- 10% of bonus AR/MR is converted to true damage as pet damage
- Bonus HP Ratio: 4% ⇒ 3%
- Monster Kill Health per Level: 3 ⇒ 6
- Monster Kill Mana per level: 2 ⇒ 4
- Treat Gold: 50 ⇒ 35
- Jungle gold is up a fair bit, pulling a lot of gold out of treats
- Experience Multiplayer: 1/1/1.025/1.075/1.15/1.15/1.25/1.25/1.35 levels 1-9 ⇒ 1/1/1.025/1.075/1.2/1.2/1.3/1.3/1.45 levels 1-9
- Partial compensation of jungle experience nerfs from the start of the season
- Monsters
- Gromp AA Range: 175 ⇒ 150
- Large Razorbeak AA Range: 300 ⇒ 200
- Leash Range centers have been offset from the Camp spawn location giving more space for champions to move and kite
- Mosstomper
- Tenacity Buff Duration: 3s ⇒ 1.5s
- Tenacity Type: Item ⇒ Champion
Mosstomper will receive some much-needed nerfs because of the powerful Tenacity buff it offers. Three seconds used to be the difference-maker. The Auto Attack range appears to have changed as well as a few of the fundamental monsters. Although it is challenging to foresee how the changes will affect the game, overall, they are nice.
As the devs will continue to buff or nerf the brand-new system until it achieves a balanced state, League of Legends fans can rest confident that these are not the only jungle modifications anticipated to arrive. In the near future, jungle pets will continue to get a number of balance changes.
