GTA 6 leaks' Hacker (suspected) is now in police custody |
September 18, 2022, was a historic day for Rockstar Games. Unfortunately, not in a good way. That Sunday, more than 90 videos streaming over 40 minutes of GTA 6 gameplay footage were leaked. Given the highly anticipated nature of GTA 6, this has proved detrimental for the developers. Fans have been waiting for this sequel for almost a decade.
The hacker who was responsible for this leak was not satisfied apparently. An update tells us that this person has struck again, this time the victim being Uber Newsroom. Yep, you heard that right. This is the world-famous ride-sharing company that you would most probably have used at least once in your life.
The update confirms recent speculations that the FBI was investigating this GTA 6 leak and its source. According to them, this hacker guy is in cahoots with a hacking group going by the name Lupsus$. Breached, a famous hacking forum claimed that the GTA 6 hacker had the nickname ‘White’ in the hacking circles.
On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the @NCA_UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).

Hacker suspected of GTA 6 leaks caught by the police
A fine citizen of London with some regard for gaming would have woken up on September 23 and checked their Twitter to find out that the shocking tweet by the City of London Police saying that a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire had been arrested on the charge, or should we say suspicion, of hacking. This entire operation of investigation had as its patron the National Crime Agency.
Let it be said that there was no explicit mention of Rockstar Games anywhere. Matthew Keys says that the arrest was “related to intrusion on Rockstar Games and possibly Uber Technologies.” He continued by saying that details would follow regarding this arrest from the Police in addition to a statement that would be issued by the FBI.
UPDATE: Police expected to give more details on arrest of 17-year-old Rockstar Games hacker later today, possible statement coming from the FBI later this morning/afternoon.

At the time of writing, ‘White’ is being kept in custody by the police. This hacker is said to have been arrested earlier this year as well for similar hacking accounts but was let out with “a slap on the wrist” and no punishment.
UPDATE: No FBI statement coming today on arrest related to Rockstar Games/Uber hack, per law enforcement source; investigation is still open and additional suspects may be identified & arrested in the coming days. 17-year-old arrested today remains in police custody.
