Without a question, League of Legends is amongst the most popular games, and players all around the world eagerly anticipate any new update that is released within a certain time frame.
Each update brings a new champion to the game, which fans eagerly await. Riot Games has previously released several League of Legends characters, including the 161st champion, Nilah, who was introduced in a surprise reveal to the players.
In Season 12, Riot has done some fantastic mini-reworks, bringing Ahri and Janna back to the top for both solo queue and pro play, while Udyr, Taliyah, and Swain are next in line for mini-reworks.
This time around, the League of Legends developers are planning a slew of modifications to Udyr in order to solve some of the most pressing issues that players have had with the Spirit Walker.
A new trailer via Riot revealed some LoL Udyr changes which will be available in the game later this week along with the LoL patch 12.16.

League of Legends Udyr rework - patch 12.16
For years, Udyr has been in a peculiar position in the League of Legends meta. He has an antiquated base model that hadn't been altered since season 1 and has an extremely basic kit. For a long while, Udyr has been regarded as one of the worst champions in League of Legends and usually only gets chosen by a few Udyr mains.
Now Riot wishes to create an unstoppable force that will take a coordinated squad to control. Thus, as part of the upswing of mid-scope upgrades in League of Legends Season 12, Riot is planning an Udyr rework with LoL patch 12.15 and LoL patch 12.16.
On August 6th, Riot dropped a new gameplay trailer on League of Legends Udyr rework, stating, "Life is in the struggle, not the victory. Fight by instinct with Udyr, the Spirit Walker."

As per the given info, the Udyr rework update will be released with patch 12.16 (not 12.15). He has been put up early for feedback, so he should be on PBE for about a week. He’ll return to PBE when we kick off the 12.16 cycle.

League of Legends Udyr rework gameplay trailer
Riot earlier created a VGU poll as demand increased, and The Spirit Walker won by a "landslide" margin. Then Riot declared that they had heard the players "loud and clear," and that they will hold Udyr to the same standards as today's champions.
The developers have detailed some of the aspects of LoL Udyr rework in the new trailer. We have jotted down the overview of the same:
- Ashe, Lissandra, and Sejuani are just a few of the champions who make the harsh and oppressively cold Freljord their home. Udyr now has the power to communicate with "any and all of the spirits of the Freljord."
- Udyr can also channel the ethereal energy of these spirits and employ them in his unique "wild fighting style."
- Udyr will continue to use the Bear and Phoenix combat stances. The Ram and Boar, two new members of the Freljord, appear to have taken the place of his Turtle and Tiger stances.
- Udyr is able to communicate with all of the Freljord's spirits and uses their ethereal energies to create his own unique physical fighting style.
- Udyr strives to preserve the balance of the Freljord's mystical terrain, where conflict and struggle are essential to it and where sacrifices must be made to keep peace at bay, through his increasing control of this immense and diverse power.
Udyr now has a completely reworked kit in addition to modernized skins and splash arts because it is a full-scale makeover similar to those done to Fiddlesticks and Dr. Mundo.

League of Legends Season 12 Udyr's Abilities changes
While the new trailer does provide a very good overview and first look, it does not detail all the modifications that will be made to Udyr. But all of the new Udyr's Abilities changes and gameplay were on display in the famed Udyr one-trick Trick2G channel.
LoL Udyr’s Passive – Spirit Walker
- Awakened Spirit: Instead of a traditional ultimate, Udyr has four basic Abilities that swap between Stances. Udyr can re-cast his stance during its cooldown to Awaken it, refreshing it with bonus effects.
- Monk Training: After using an Ability, Udyr’s next two attacks within 4 seconds gain 30% increased attack speed and refund 5% of Awaken’s cooldown on hit.
LoL Udyr’s Q – Wilding Claw
- Wilding Stance: Udyr gains 25% attack speed for 4 seconds. Udyr’s next two attacks in this stance maul the target to deal a bonus max health physical damage.
- Awaken: Grants additional attack speed. During this time, Udyr’s next two attacks call lightning to strike six times, each dealing up to percentage max health magic damage to isolated targets.
LoL Udyr’s W – Iron Mantle
- Mantle Stance: Udyr gains Shield for 4 seconds. Udyr’s next two attacks in this stance additionally gain Life Steal and restore health on hit.
- Awaken: Shield increases, and Udyr regenerates health over 4 seconds. Stance Life on hit and lifesteal bonuses doubled during this time.
LoL Udyr’s E – Blazing Stampede
- Stampede Stance: Udyr gains 30% Move Speed, decaying over 4 seconds. Additionally, Udyr’s attacks in this stance lunge at and stun targets for 0.75 seconds; this effect as a 6-second cooldown on each target.
- Awaken: Grants immunity to Immobilizing and Disabling effects and an additional 32% Move Speed for 1.5 seconds.
LoL Udyr’s R – Wingborne Storm
- Storm Stance: Udyr surrounds himself in a glacial storm for 4 seconds that deals 20 magic damage per second to nearby enemies inside and Slows them by 15%. Udyr’s next two attacks in this stance deal magic damage to enemies in the storm.
- Awaken: Unleash the storm, causing it to seek a nearby. Deals an additional max health magic damage over the remainder of its duration. (The Storm moves towards Udyr’s last attack target)

League of Legends Udyr rework release date
As stated above, all the new LoL Udyr rework will be seen in the LoL patch 12.16, so fans can expect to see the changed Udyr on August 24, 2022.
The trailer not only showcased Udyr's new playstyle but also his bulked-up new appearance. His massive frame should be enough to frighten the opposition if his ax and glowing eyes fail to do so.
However, with enough time between the reveal and League patch 12.16 on August 24, it is possible that these Udyr buffs will continuously undergo some new changes.
