Destiny 2 Lightfall will be released soon which will bring lots of new content, a new map, a Season Pass, and much more.
Destiny 2 Lightfall |
Destiny 2 has had a really successful career till now. This free-to-play online-only multiplayer (first-person shooter) title was developed by Bungie to provide gamers with the fun of a classic shooting game.
We could say that it was destiny that led you to this page today to talk about Destiny. More precisely, Destiny 2: Lightyear.
It was in 2020 that Bungie, the developer, revealed Beyond Light, Witch Queen, and Lightfall together. Intended for 2021, Witch Queen really came out in February of 2022. Now the course is set for the Lightfall expansion.
Destiny’s “Light and Darkness” saga was slated to end with the Lightyear expansion. However, it will now be continued by Destiny 2: The Final Shape, which is the next expansion. But that’s all uncertain talk.
Let’s focus on what is much near to us, the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Release Date
The original timetable was scheduled such that the Witch Queen expansion would launch in 2021, and the Lightfall expansion in 2022. But that timetable proved to be useless. It was in February of this year the Witch Queen expansion came to be launched. And keeping that in mind, it seems unlikely that the developers would launch two expansions in a single year.
That’s not to say that players would be left stranded. Witch Queen has four Season Passes. Boredom is the last thing to settle in the minds of fans this year of Destiny.
As for the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date, the best we can speculate is the year, which is 2023. We will get to know more in the reveal event that Bungie is hosting on August 23 – the same date as the release of Destiny 2 Season 18.
Destiny 2 Lightfall Trailers
A small Destiny 2 Lightfall teaser is all that we have on our hands at the moment.
In the Past is Prologue trailer, which was released last year, we hear the Exo Stranger, who is Elsie Bray, utter the statement, “a side should always be taken, even if it’s the wrong side.” You will find it at the 3:40 mark in the video.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Platforms
No information in this regard comes to us from official sources. But what we can speculate, and on solid grounds too, is that whichever platforms are available for Destiny 2, will be available for its expansion. Sound logic.
That means Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PS4 and PS5, plus PC and Google Stadia will be able to host the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion. If you keep pace with gaming news, you will recall Sony bought Bungie in January 2022. No need to worry, for both of them agreed on the view of keeping this game multiplatform.
Destiny 2 Lightfall Storyline
“The Witch Queen will light the fire on a strongly interconnected narrative across Lightfall and beyond, unlike anything we’ve ever attempted before, with characters, arcs, heroes, and villains that persist over multiple future releases.”
The developers say that how the events of the Witch Queen expansion turn and twist will dictate the Destiny 2 Lightfall plotline and also further installments.
Light and Darkness will battle in each of the expansions. As for the Witch Queen, we were left with a lot of question marks at the end. Who really are the good guys? Us? Them? Did the Traveler guard Savathun? What’s the Witness’ identity? Destiny 2 Season 18 awaits us with all the answers, hopefully.

Destiny 2 Lightfall Leaks and rumors
Beyond Light gave us a new location: Europa. Witch Queen gave us Savathun’s Throne World. If history is any indication, Destiny 2 Lightfall will carry out the same strategy. Bungie said that a Legendary campaign will be included in Lightfall in an interview with Dexerto.
DestinyTwoLeaks on Twitter claim that a Sparrow revamp won’t be carried out as “Bungie wasn’t able to get it working”. This revamp would have given us two-player Sparrows. The same Twitter account tweeted that a Power Levels overhaul is due. This would change a major trademark aspect of Destiny.

Bungie wasn’t able to get it working.
(I think it was networking issues with 2 players in one vehicle, but im not too sure)
It’s still possible we may receive a speed adjustment or horn feature in the future. But I honestly have no idea when. https://t.co/SK1g4S5Y7r
A Reddit post tells us that Bungie included the Salt Mines area of the EDZ again. We don’t know what this is for exactly.
Destiny 2 Lightfall subclass
The developers updated Void in Season of the Risen, Solar in Season of the Haunted, and plan to do the same with Arc in Destiny 2 Season 18.
Beyond Light allowed Guardians to take up Stasis for the first time. All of this says nothing about a new subclass in Lightfall. A new subclass will give us a poison-based effect like that of Thorn and Osteo Striga, plus the Warlock exotic Necrotic Grip. This is a fan-based theory. It would’ve been great in Witch Queen, but that never came to pass.
However, a new leak that outlines upcoming game content, including a new subclass, has recently surfaced online. This new leak talks about the upcoming Destiny 2 Lightfall subclass.
This is not the first time information about a new subclass in the game has leaked. Destiny 2 will soon acquire a new "green" elemental subtype, according to previously leaked information and even a video on Twitter. The leaked video virtually validates the addition, while the Pastebin leak described this new green subclass.
The video displays brand-new HUD icons, including a brand-new Super icon and green powers. However, none of this is demonstrated in the video. This new Destiny 2 Lightfall subclass is said to focus on parkour and a poison element.

Regarding the most recent leak, it appears to relate to the game's planned content. The new subclass, dubbed "Strand," is said to be based on the concepts of life and death. The leak asserts that although the subclass is green, it has no clear connection to the poison archetype.
In Season of the Haunted, egregore took the H.E.L.M. That’s indicative of a new damage element. But that’s all we can say for now.

Future of Destiny 2
As far as we know, it is confirmed that Destiny 2 will continue after Lightfall. The next expansion would be named Destiny 2: The Final Shape, set to release in 2024.
Witch Queen is like the beginning of the end, a “moment of acceleration towards the end,” in the words of the developers. What the end holds exactly is up to you to imagine right now.
And there you have it! That is pretty much everything that you would need to know about Destiny 2 Lightfall until it actually gets here. Make sure to get a comfy seat because you will be stuck to this expansion (and therefore, the seat!).
