We have brought you a list of the upcoming 2022 and 2023 games that you can eagerly anticipate and enjoy on your devices when it releases.
What is more exciting as a gamer than to see your collection of titles grow, even more so if it’s physical? You show that stack of blue and green-collared boxes as if they were your children.
Well, we understand this total (if not weird!) devotion some players might have towards their video game collection, and we’d commend you for it. We even want to take part in its growth. That’s why we have compiled this list below.
You will find yet-to-be-released titles for both 2022 and 2023 here. We have included some of the most coveted video games, many of which form part of a franchise, which might force you to first test out some of the earlier titles to see if it suits your tastes. Those are not the only ones, however, so no need to worry.
And without further ado, let’s get right into it the best 2022 and 2023 games that you should look forward to!
Upcoming Games of 2022
Even though we have passed half of this year, we still have a long list of new 2022 games coming out. Let's begin with one.
- The Last of Us Part 1
The title is a little misleading. The gameplay experience of The Last of Us Part 1 will not be similar to that of its predecessor. This title is going to be the “definitive version” of the first version, said Neil Druckmann during the Summer Game Fest.
The developers Naughty Dog confirmed that this game of 2022 is to be a complete makeover of what the game’s previous experiences had been to suit the needs of PS5 and PC. The controls shall be improved, the accessibility options expanded, and the facial animations are given higher fidelity.
You can see the comparison between the old and new games in its trailer, especially the character models. The Last of Us Part 1 is set to release on PS5 and PC on September 2, 2022.
- Season
From its name to the actual game, everything about this game of 2022 - Season, is unique. Just take a look at its trailer once and you’ll see.
As a young woman, you decide you’ve had enough of the boring life and take off exploring the world for the first time. There are sunsets, blue skies, grassy meadows, and more, and you only have your bicycle as your companion. You take photographs, document, draw, sketch, and record everything and anything that happens around you.
This 2022 video game is a "surreal version of the mid-twentieth century, where thousands of years have passed without any progress." This is the childhood you always wish you had.
Season is set to release on PS5 and PC in the fall of 2022.
- Overwatch 2
Overwatch 2 saw the world first at BlizzCon 2019. This multiplayer team-based first-person shooter video game has on its agenda storytelling, more so than its predecessors, as is attested by its new Story Missions.
At E3 2022, the Xbox and Bethesda showcase revealed that this game of 2022 - Overwatch 2 will be released as free-to-play and an early access title on October 4, 2022. There will be some new heroes. One name that pops into mind is the Junker Queen. This is a highly-anticipated combatant, carrying a shotgun as the primary weapon, plus a humungous two-handed ax as the secondary weapon. This is one queen that should never be allowed to rule.
Overwatch 2 is set to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 4, 2022. This is the early access version.
- Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed
Who is there who has grown up in the 1990s and hasn’t heard of Ghostbusters? Well, if you are from that era, you need to take special note of this game of 2022.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is brought to us by the same team that gave us Friday the 13th: The Game. This is an asymmetric multiplayer 2022 video game where four players team up to become the famous Ghostbusters. One of these four, of course, is a traitor.
That player assumes the forms of many ghosts and pulls many tricks to impediment the progress of the Ghostbusters in whichever way they can. And that means slime. The levels occur across a variety of locales, like hotels and libraries.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is set to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, PC, and Xbox One on October 18, 2022.
- Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope
You know we had to include a 2022 Nintendo exclusive game. Ubisoft and Nintendo collaborate again to create the sequel of a masterpiece.
In Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, the heroes will set out to stop Cursa, the new villain, whose intention is to absorb the world’s energy. But not to worry, they won’t face this dreaded threat alone. Rabbid Rosalina and Sparks, the hybrids of Super Mario Galaxy’s Luma, and the Rabbids will extend themselves for help.
A great new feature is the inclusion of exploration in this game of 2022. There will be secrets to spill, free traversal, etc. The grid system shall be no more and free control inside areas of attack will be given.
Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope is set to release on Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2022.
- Scorn
Scorn is not for the faint of the heart. The art in this game of 2022 has its roots in that of Alien’s H. R. Geiger. You will find everything gross you can think about a human body here, which includes bones, flesh, and internal organs. Even the arsenal isn’t spared.
The weapons appear as if they have been made from bones and rough bulks of meat and gristle. You will need time to understand what exactly is happening in the 2022 video game, and that forms part of the mystery of the title. There will be fights, exploration, and puzzles. Lots of them.
Scorn is set to release on Xbox Series X and PC on October 21, 2022.
- Gotham Knights
Have you ever wished that it was Batman who should have gotten killed instead of Superman in that DC movie? Well, if you have, this game of 2022 was made with you in mind.
In Gotham Knights, the project of WB Games Montreal, Batman’s gone night-night (meaning he’s dead) and you only have the four Gotham Knights to dance with – Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and Batgirl. The WB studio calls this the “most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet.”
This entire 2022 video game will function along the theme of drop-in, drop-out co-op affair, with the action being open-world action-adventure. Still, the combat style has that Batman feels to it.
Gotham Knights is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 25, 2022.
Upcoming Games of 2023
- Forspoken
The developers that made Final Fantasy 15 are partially the same as those who worked in Luminous Production’s team to bring us Forspoken. This forthcoming game of 2023 takes us along the journey of a young woman, Frey, from the Big Apple, as she loses her way into the hostile world of Athia.
There will be magical powers, there will be parkour, and there will be many alien creatures. Forspoken is the brainchild of many imminent writers, like Alison Rhymer, Gary Whitta, Amy Hennig, and Todd Stashwich.
Forspoken will release on PS5 and PC on January 24, 2023.
- Dead Space remake
There goes the saying that the sequel is what makes the original bad. Well, with this game of 2023, it might be the opposite.
EA’s Motive Studios are bleeding, sweating, and crying making the remake of a truly remarkable horror game, Dead Space. The essential theme of this 2023 video game will be the same, but additions and truncations have been made in many places. The loading screens have been removed, thus making the game micro-transaction free.
Some new content has been put in Dead Space Remake was supposed to be part of the original title but didn’t make it into the final cut. All in all, the year 2023 in video games is going to be much better for this particular title.
The Dead Space remake is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Pc on January 27, 2023.
- Hogwarts Legacy
The title of this 2023 video game is a little misleading. You see, here, you won’t be Harry, Hermoine, or Ron. Hogwarts Legacy is not a direct adaption of the Harry Potter books, while, of course, taking its major themes from there.
As a student of Hogwarts during the 1800s, you can nonetheless expect a lot of wizardry and witchcraft to fill the air. The game of 2023 is an open-world RPG. Hence, you will get opportunities to explore as well.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 10, 2023.
- Resident Evil Remake
It’s most likely not an exaggeration to say that Resident Evil is the standard of survival-horror games. It makes sense that the developers would want to bring the game back with a bang. The developers will seek to “preserve the essence of the original game with Resident Evil remake," while at the same time bringing in modern elements, and “reimagine”-ing the plotline.
It is believed that the graphics of this game of 2023 will be out of this world, as can be expected from RE Engine.
- Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Team Ninja has hit jackpot in terms of concept, according to us. This is the same studio that brought the world the Nioh ARPG series.
In Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, they will be bringing together supernatural elements and historical facts. Now, the Nioh ARPG is a Soulslike game whichever angle you look at it. And it appears that this game of 2023 will take the same direction too. A "dark fantasy action game set in the Chinese Three Kingdoms period," Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be on the Game Pass at launch.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is set to release on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC in early 2023.
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
What an iconic name for a game that focuses on the psychotic murdering ways of a bunch of retarded serial killers!
In Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, you will assume the role of any one of the characters Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang. The other characters will be controlled by the system or you could play multiplayer. Rocksteady has announced that this game of 2023 is a continuation of the previous games in this franchise. Hence, it is set in the Batman: Arkham universe. You will see continuing plotlines meet new possibilities.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in Spring, 2023.
- Breath of the Wild 2
Breath of the Wild 2 is not the official title of the sequel that continues the story and adventures of Hyrule and Link. As it’s the sequel Nintendo thought it would up the game, literally, and bring in the feature of being able to explore the skies too.
During E3 2021, we saw some footage of Breath of the Wild 2. However, that only led to more confusion. We know nothing about anything in this game of 2023. Even less so concerning the storyline. The original release date, which was sometime in 2022, has been postponed till 2023.
Breath of the Wild 2 is set to release on Switch in Spring, 2023.
- Forza Motorsport
Even the first Forza video game had godly graphics. You can imagine just how much better the next 2023 video game in the Forza franchise is going to be.
The processing power of the Xbox Series X|S consoles is magnificent. As if to match that strength, the developers are giving this game everything they’ve got. That includes overhauled physics, ray tracing, and a time-of-day system. Turn 10 studio will stop at nothing, it seems, with this game of 2023.
Forza Motorsport is set to release on Xbox Series X|S and PC in Spring, 2023.
- Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 16 takes fantasy to another level. Valisthea is a land wherein Mothercrystals are scattered. These are the source of aether and magic in the world. But this land is also home to the infestation of Blight and Eikons, deadly creatures that are hell-bent on destruction.
It is obvious that this particular game of 2023 has set some great standards.
Final Fantasy 16 is set to release on PS5 in Summer, 2023.
And with that, we come to the end of our list of the top games of 2022 and 2023. This is not to say that this list is exhaustive; far from it. We encourage you to explore the gaming world on your own and draw up your list of the top games.
