Soulframe's release date is still far off, but the new reveal trailer did give players an early idea of what they can expect from this upcoming MMORPG tile in terms of its gameplay.
Soulframe, a new MMORPG by Warframe developers |
Playing with others might occasionally be more enjoyable. While there are many wonderful PC games that place you in the role of a lone hero, MMORPGs tend to be some of the biggest and best titles. These are huge games that allow you to play with hundreds of thousands or millions of other players and have a steady stream of fresh content.
Digital Extremes, the developer of the free-to-play blockbuster Warframe, has now joined the same league. The company has spent nearly a complete decade concentrating almost entirely on its flagship product and the studio has revealed Soulframe, a brand-new project that could be its next big priority.
A new trailer from Digital Extremes introduces its upcoming flagship MMORPG project, which may or may not be related to the larger Warframe universe. However, Elden Ring may have had an influence on Soulframe, which is an open-world game like The Duviri Paradox expansion.
The developers have not provided many facts about this game, but do not worry since we have gathered all the information on the upcoming title Soulframe, including details about its release date, gameplay, and more.

Soulframe - the new MMORPG game
In MMOs, you can play for hours on end while enhancing your avatar, leveling up, and collecting better gear and weapons to take on even greater challenges. If you devote all of your energy to such video games that seem to go on forever, you'll enter new worlds populated by characters that are commanded by other individuals just like you.
And a similar system will be seen with the upcoming MMORPG Soulframe game.
The developer of the popular MMO game Warframe, Digital Extremes, presented Soulframe at Tennocon 2022, arguably the biggest news of the convention. New information regarding Soulframe indicates that it will be an open-world game when it debuts.
The game's melee-focused combat will be slower-paced than that of Digital Extremes' Warframe. The company makes it clear in the interview, though, that this is not a response to Elden Ring.
The free-to-play fantasy MMO will be "heavily influenced by themes of nature, restoration, and exploration," the developer said during TennoCon 2022. Additionally, Soulframe, a brand-new game in its early stages of development, will offer a distinct, immersive experience that is independent of Warframe.

Now enough of the overview, let's get into some details, shall we?
Soulframe release date
The developer stated that Soulframe production "has officially just begun" following the Tennocon 2022 announcement, indicating that fans may have a long wait to get their hand on this upcoming title. Implying that we don't have Soulframe's release date yet, and given the length of the production cycle, it might be years before players can explore the game's setting.
Hence one will have to wait and watch for more knowledgeable speculation on Soulframe's release. Given that this was only the first announcement of the title, a 2022 release seems doubtful. Depending on the rate of development, a release window in the second half of 2023 might be a possibility.
Although there is currently no set Soulframe release date, Digital Extremes intends to be transparent about the development process and encourages gamers to sign up on the Soulframe website for updates.
As a result, it's feasible that early development streams and fan testers will both be able to play Soulframe within a year. Sinclair says, "Watch us make the game, get your hands on the rough portions, and tell us how you feel."
Soulframe trailer
Digital Extremes released the first cinematic trailer for Soulframe during TennoCon 2022.
The Soulframe cinematic trailer appears promising and you can have a closer look at the Soulframe environment in the video below. However, you shouldn't anticipate any gameplay footage for Soulframe anytime soon as it is still in the early stages of development.

Soulframe gameplay
Despite the fact that Digital Extremes hasn't provided many details, we do have an idea of what to expect from Soulframe's gameplay.
Aiming to provide "slow and heavy" physical combat in a landscape that is constantly moving and appears to be reacting to some sort of industrial growth, Soulframe is an environmentalist MMORPG. Although it's still unclear whether Soulframe is situated in the Warframe universe, the new title's visual influence is quite evident.
Even though the title suggests a direct connection to Warframe, it doesn't appear that the developer intentionally intended this.
Sinclair stated that the team "focused our sights on the Fantasy genre to convey the story of Soulframe" because fantasy has a significant influence on Soulframe's gameplay. The reveal trailer contains many components that strongly suggest that Soulframe's gameplay will revolve quite a lot around fantasy, such as the enigmatic and lethal sword and the dire wolf that can be seen in the clip.
Sinclair affirms that Soulframe's center world would be open in an interview with the Washington Post, in contrast to early Warframe. The director declares, "I'm after that 'short session but high immersion' thing where you sign in, you come out of your yurt, and you are where you last signed off. It seems as though the world has been functioning without you."

Despite its name, Dark Souls was not the source of the original Soulframe's gameplay concepts. Elden Ring, however, has definitely been a subject of some talk, such as about the camera or how amazing their battle pacing is, the developer did admit.
Although there may not always be a good connection between the characters and the game's universe, Soulframe's gameplay will also examine that relationship. Players will probably notice some procedural features in the environment because the universe is somewhat enraged about what has been done to it.
Soulframe - Developing team
Well, you might have already gotten an idea of who will lead the team of developers behind Soulframe as we have already mentioned his name above.
Steve Sinclair, a former Warframe creative director, and lead designer Scott McGregor will oversee Digital Extremes' next game thanks to Soulframe. The two were crucial in the development of Warframe, and with Soulframe, they will forge new territory.
Strangely, a large portion of the newly formed Soulframe development team is made up of Warframe employees. One of the former creative directors of the Warframe was Sinclair, who is now being replaced by the former community manager, Rebecca Ford. Geoff Crookes, who previously had a similar position on the project, will also be working with Sinclair.
The two appear eager to begin the significant new project for Digital Extremes, which they claimed will draw inspiration from a variety of works including Princess Mononoke and The NeverEnding Story.

Soulframe - The developers' view
Earlier this year, Digital Extremes trademarked Soulframe, which considerably confused the Warframe gaming community. However, the creators have provided their opinions on what they anticipate their game to be like as the title has been formally announced.
In a recent interview with The Washington Post, the game—which has no release date—was covered in great depth.
When asked what is the unique element of the upcoming Soulframe and its difference from the Warframe game, the developers stated, "'Soulframe' represents an opportunity to go out on a familiar yet fresh limb and see where it takes them."
Adding to this Sinclair said, "Where 'Warframe' is focused on shooting, this one’s focused on melee. Where 'Warframe' is super fast and crazy high-speed, this one’s going to be a lot more slow and heavy. But it still has a lot of similarities to the genre that we have experience in."
Talking about Soulframe's universe, creative director Geoff Crookes stated, "The conceit is that the world itself is a little angry about what’s been done to it, and the grounds underneath tend to shift throughout the day. So there’s going to be proceduralism within the cave networks and crevasses and so on underneath the world."

Moreover, while discussing Soulframe's release date and its early announcement, Sinclair said. "Our work has been extremely community driven. It feels disingenuous not to tell [players] about changes and who’s leading ‘Warframe.’ It’s way too early to announce ‘Soulframe,’ actually! But in terms of transparency and making sure they understand how we think, we tend to be a lot more open … than most studios."
Looking at the developers' enthusiasm and plans, it wouldn't be wrong to expect that Soulframe too will be a great game like Warframe. It would be intriguing to see how much better Digital Extremes can make Soulframe since Warframe is regarded as one of the best live-service games with a slight imbalance between its MMO and fantastic campaign.
And with this, we have to end of our post on the upcoming MMORPG title, Soulframe. Well, even though it's early to look forward to Soulframe's release, do sign up on Soulframe's official website to stay updated on its development and hop onto your gaming screens when it is released.
