The most exciting thing going on in the Thor universe at the moment is the introduction of Mighty Thor into the plotline. For those who are not familiar with the MCU, Mighty Thor is the female alter-ego of Thor, who is in reality Thor’s girlfriend, Jane Foster.

That’s enough information about the movie side of things. Coming to the video game side, it has been some time since we saw a DLC pack released for Marvel’s Avengers, the online video game developed by Square Enix. But now, the developers have announced that in June 2022, Black Panther and Spider-Man will be followed by the release of the Mighty Thor.

This release is well-timed as the latest installment in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder will also be released pretty soon. There is one exception, however, and it is that in the online game, the character will be based on the comic book character, and not on how it has been adapted for the screen.

Mighty Thor Release date

The latest addition to the character roster of Marvel’s Avengers, Jane Foster, aka Mighty Thor, will be coming to the game on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. The best part is that this character is free of cost. She is going to be included in the free 2.5 update of the game.

We got this information from official sources: the official Twitter account of Marvel’s Avengers. The developers tweeted a trailer over there and the release date was included in that. This clip also showed us how the Mighty Thor is going to get introduced into the universe of the game.

Mighty Thor’s outfits in Marvel’s Avengers

At the moment, there are four Mighty Thor outfits that have been put out in the game. You can take a look-see at it at the official website here. You get a glimpse of “true Asgardian finery” in the first one, which is named the Iconic Outfit, much like the Odinson.

The second Mighty Thor outfit is the Might Outfit. The inspiration for this one was taken from Thor #1 (2014). The third one is the Valkyrie Outfit, which is the result of the evolution of the Valkyrie nature of Jane’s alter-ego. The last one is the Thordis Outfit. This was inspired by What If? #10 (1977).

Mighty Thor abilities in Marvel’s Avengers

The developers have officially confirmed that the Mighty Thor is going to have a new Intrinsic, named the All-Mother’s Blessing. Plus, there is the new Overcharge ability, called the God Tempest. The Ultimate Ability of the Mighty Thor, however, will have you use the awesome power of Undrjarn and Mjölnir.

In addition to all these additions, Mighty Thor is going to be given a new ranged combo and a new ranged power attack. Now, other than all this, the gameplay of this character can be expected to be similar to that of Thor, who already is on the roster. This makes sense given that they have a common weapon.

“Aas a fellow wielder of Mjolnir, her suite of abilities will have a lot in common with the Odinson’s,” said the developers, Crystal Dynamics, in the character announcements. “However she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane.”

And that is pretty much everything that we know about the Marvel’s Avengers Mighty Thor. Well this information is official, so there’s no need to worry about it turning out to be wrong later, ignoring exceptional circumstances, of course.
