Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones: Leaked gameplay clip gives us a glimpse of the game
Skull & Bones |
Ubisoft has given the gaming community some of the most prized and valuable games of all time, like the Prince of Persia series. And another such game title is Skull & Bones.
Now Skull & Bones is a yet-to-be-released action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. The tentative release date that we have been given is sometime after April 2022. As can after be guessed from the name itself, this title revolves around piracy and naval warfare. It will be a multiplayer video game, as far as we know.
Now up till now, we really had no idea what this would look like gameplay-wise. However, our leakers have been hard at work with this title. We have been provided an overview with a leaked Skull & Bones video. This clip will show us what we can expect from Ubisoft Singapore’s new pirate adventure.
A leaked video of Ubisoft’s Skull & Bones provides a gameplay overview
The leaked video of Skull & Bones gameplay was about six and a half minutes long. In this video, we can clearly see that the game is set in a location that has been inspired by the Indian Ocean at the peak or golden age of piracy.

The general aim of the game is to begin the journey as an underdog, then slowly but surely climb the success ladder and become the most sinister and infamous pirate to ever sail the seven seas.
Players start off with a dhow, which is a small trading vessel. As they progress through the game and the level of their Infamy rises, they can build and craft better, bigger, and stronger ships with their preferred playstyles.
Now the ways to raise this level of Infamy are many and varied. Players can earn Infamy by taking on contracts. Contracts are deals that players make with non-playable characters in the game world. Now some of these deals can be shared with other people. And you can complete them in a group of up to three players.
Some of the other ways to get rewarded in Infamy are to complete such activities as plundering, going on treasure hunts, exploring different parts of the game world, and also taking part in big world events.
It was finally in February that Ubisoft reiterated that this long-delayed game is to be released at the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2023. It also said that the game is going to be “multiplayer first” now.
The CFO of Ubisoft, FrĂ©dĂ©rick Duguet, gave us some sense of where the developers are headed with this project through an update. This was in the middle of the publisher’s latest earnings call, and it came after a reboot of the naval battle game in 2020. Skull & Bones was first revealed in an all-exclusive VGC report.
These are Duguet’s exact words: It’s a very promising new IP focusing on multiplayer first, so very consistent with our strategy to bring multiplayer competition and co-op first in a big open world, with a great, attractive fantasy.
He continued, taking note of the general concern with this type of move and also admitting that they are ready to accept it: That’s of course a longer development time that we’ve had on that game, but we’re very happy with the artistic direction and the progress of the game so far.
And it was this March that Ubisoft put out an official announcement for the Skull & Bones testers. “We are kicking off our Insider Program, a unique opportunity for a selected few to test early versions of Skull and Bones & share feedback,” it said in the official call.
And it continued thus, “Ideal candidates are Skull & Bones fans with a keen interest in game development, with plenty of time to allocate to testing and reporting issues, bugs or just general feedback.”
And if you are someone who would like to be part of their team of testers (and let’s just be honest here, who would not want that!), then you can express that interest by registering here.
It is mentioned on the title’s website that Skull & Bones has gotten an 18 rating from PEGI, the European classification organization. The definitive release date is “coming soon.”
