LoL player Nuguri who was missing from the esports scene for a while is finally returning to the competitive play with Damwon Kia in LCK Summer split 2022.
Jang 'Nuguri' Ha-gwon return to Esports |
The industry of esports is a demanding one, with players and teams from all over the world competing on a daily basis in games like League of Legends to establish who is the greatest. As more players explore ways to become pros, 100 Thieves, T1, Cloud9, TSM, and Team Liquid are just four of the many teams from across the world vying to be the best in the popular MOBA.
Each squad has its strongest players in each position, such as World Champion top laner Jang 'Nuguri' Ha-gwon, who joined the Damwon Kia team in LoL Esports.
Nuguri was a member of Damwon Kia for three years before joining FunPlus Phoenix in the LPL. Then following a disappointing year in the 2021 World Championship group stage, he decided to take a break from professional sports.
But, in exciting news for Nuguri supporters, it has been reported that World Champion top laner Jang 'Nuguri' Ha-gwon will return to competitive play with the LCK Summer split 2022.

Nuguri returning to Damwon Kia with LCK Summer split 2022
After parting ways with the LPL's FunPlus Phoenix, Nuguri, 22, announced his retirement from competitive play in November 2021.
The top laner was a member of DWG KIA's powerful 2020 lineup, which won the Summoner's Cup at the League of Legends World Championship in Shanghai, China, that year.
Nuguri, on the other hand, failed to meet his lofty hopes with FPX in 2021. The team did not advance past the group stage at Worlds 2021, finishing last in Group A. He then decided to take a break from pro games after a dismal year and reportedly turned down many offers from teams.
However, sources have told Korizon Esports that perhaps the famous top laner has decided to return to his former squad Damwon Gaming for the LCK 2022 Summer split. As a result, he will most probably replace Burdol as DWG KIA's starting top laner.

In recent times, DWG KIA has also appeared to be weakening as the team finished third in the regular season of the 2022 LCK Spring Split before falling in the playoff semifinals to Gen.G. Nuguri's arrival could aid in the squad's replenishment ahead of the upcoming split.
Damwon Kia might just need Nuguri to get back to their golden days like in 2020.
However, it's unclear if he'll be the team's starting top laner or if he'll share time with Noh 'Burdol' Taeyoon, the team's current top laner. Damwon Kia has yet to make a statement regarding their offseason roster changes. Hence, it would be ideal to wait for the formal announcement from the team.
