The next Witcher game, according to CD Project, will usher the franchise into a new era. The open-world game will be built with Epic Games' Unreal Engine, instead of the studio's exclusive RED engine, that propelled past Witcher games as well as Cyberpunk 2077, the studio announced on Monday.
The development of a new Witcher game has been revealed by CD Projekt Red on Twitter, but the announcement only included a link and a fresh teaser image. The site suddenly broke down as fans flocked to it, but it merely states that a new Witcher game is in the works, ushering in a new narrative for the franchise.
It goes on to talk about its collaboration with Epic Games and its development on Unreal Engine 5.

The official announcement read, "We’re happy to announce that the next installment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise."
Adding t this, developers wrote, "This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant."
