Warzone and Overwatch Crossover blueprint of a weapon has been leaked.
Warzone and Overwatch Crossover possibly happening soon |
As unlikely as it may seem, the recently leaked CoD blueprints suggest a Warzone and Overwatch Crossover.
For those who are new to gaming, Call of Duty Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale video game developed by Activision, while Overwatch is a team-based first-person shooter video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Both the developers are branches of Activision Blizzard, one of the biggest name in the industry.
While Overwatch has seen many crossovers with other Blizzard Entertainment games like Diablo, StarCraft, and World of Warcraft, it has never had a Call of Duty crossover. Likewise, Call of Duty has had crossovers like Ghostface, Frank from Donnie Darko, Rambo, and even the great John Mclane, but never an Overwatch one. At least until now.

But there is a big advantage to this Warzone and Overwatch crossover. Because they are developed by the same company, Activision Blizzard (though by different branches), there won’t be any copyright issues.

Warzone and Overwatch Crossover
The person responsible for giving us this surprising piece of news is the Redditor House_of_Vines.
House_of_Vines discovered a CoD blueprint of a weapon and posted it on the Overwatch subreddit, saying it’s called 'Wrecking Ball'. Admittedly, from the looks of it, this Warzone and Overwatch crossover weapon is heavily influenced, if not inspired, by Wrecking Ball, the mech of the character Hammond (‘HAM’ in short) from Overwatch. The name of this weapon is Warzone MG42.

The Warzone and Overwatch crossover blueprint contains many references to Wrecking Ball. First off, the word ‘HAM’ is pasted at the rear of the gun. ‘HAM’ is written on Wrecking Ball as well. This is the most obvious reference to the Overwatch character.
Another point of similarity is the number ‘8’ written on drum magazine of this Warzone and Overwatch crossover gun. This is perhaps the strongest point of reference to the Overwatch mech: It points to the original name of Wrecking Ball, which was Specimen 8, and the number 8 is written on Wrecking Ball too.
There’s also the color of the weapon to be considered. The drum magazine is painted orange and there are two strips of orange etched in the stock of gun.
The reaction to this Warzone and Overwatch crossover is mixed. Observing the comments section of the post by House_of_Vines, it can be seen that some people are excited about the crossover while some say it’s not needed.
One commenter wrote this about the Warzone and Overwatch crossover: "The crossover I never knew I needed." A different commenter wrote this: "Dear Call of Duty: Don’t. ~ Random gamer."
If you are from the group that’s not too happy about this, don’t get your panties in a twist, because it’s not official yet.
Maybe this crossover will lead to many more of its kind. Maybe it will pave the way for more crossovers between Activision and Blizzard entertainment. Branches of other video game developers could consider this option as well.
But until the heads of Activision Blizzard announce it, take all this information about the Warzone and Overwatch crossover with a grain of salt.
